ARTIST PROFILE

INFLUENCES & INSPIRATIONS
I am a mixed Media Artist, with a passion for Abstract Expressionist and Event Design, a Visionary and a Creative Revolutionary, based in Toledo, Ohio. Known to push artistic and design boundaries in my projects, acclaimed by critics and fans alike.
I love being able to share my artwork with my online audience, and always hope for great feedback. As a professional artist, I have been committed to mastering my craft. I have received awards and recognitions for my work and they remind me that my efforts are appreciated and also motivate me to strive to do better. I'm excited to present my most cherished and celebrated body of work.
My artistic expression has gone through many phases over the years resulting in a highly personal approach and perspective. I am never content with standing still and am always looking for the next engaging project.
As a lifelong artist, I look for the next opportunity to translate everyday experiences into artistic expressions.
My approach and output are constantly evolving as I hone my personal style. I approach each project with enthusiasm and total dedication.
My passion and proclivity for improvisation, abstraction and self-expression can be clearly identified in my work. In the last ten years, I have taken part in a series of masterclasses, webinars, story circles, creative salons and imaginings that have all helped me reach my current level of proficiency. This is the official page of my virtual gallery. Thanks for visiting and don't forget to join me for the premiere!

“The abstraction is often the most definite form for the intangible in myself that I can only clarify in paint . . . I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say
any other way— things I had no words for.”

Georgia O'Keeffe

“You don't take a photograph, you make it.”

ART BECAME MY OXYGEN AND ALLOWED MY CREATIVITY TO
SHINE BRIGHT AS THE SUN!

I was awarded commendations to begin taking art classes at the Toledo Museum of Art in 1965 and 1966. The following year, I took a pottery class and loved it so much that I was convinced that art was what I wanted to pursue. As a teen, I discovered two of my early visual art inspirations were from the work of environmentalist and photographer, Ansel Adams and Georgia O'Keeffe, considered the "Mother of American Modernism." I've visited countless art museums, galleries and exhibitions around the country. Some of my favorites are Canyon Road/Santa Fe, NM, Georgia O'Keeffe Museum/Santa Fe, NM, Andy Warhol Museum/Pittsburgh, PA and Omaha Children's Museum/Omaha, NE. My love of art ranges from Renaissance to Modern Art. In addition to these phenomenal artists, my influences are:
• Michelangelo
• Leonardo da Vinci
• Vincent Van Gogh
• Henri Matisse
• Claude Monet
• Pablo Picasso
• Andy Warhol
• Peter Max
• Banksy
• Frida Kahlo
• Dale Chihuly
• Jean-Michel Basquiat
• Jackson Pollock
• Gordon Parks
• Ernie Barnes
• Elizabeth Catlett
• Betye Saar
• Kehinde Wiley
• Aminah Robinson
• Bisa Butler
• Kara Walker
• Vanessa German
• Joni Eareckson Tada

and many more.

My interest in music grew after I was awarded commendations to begin music classes at the Toledo Museum of Art in 1965 and 1966. I started playing musical instruments at age seven. In that same year, I listened to my first classical LP album at home - "Tchaikovsky, The Piano Concerto No. 1, Nutcracker Suite Selections, Funk & Wagnalls Family Library Of Great Music #14." I was so impressed that I listened to it over and over. At age twelve, I began taking piano lessons and started playing for a youth choir at the church that my Dad pastored. Music brings harmony into my sometimes hectic world! My musical influences are too numerous to name, so it would be better to list them by genres:
• Classical
• Instrumental
• Jazz
• Pop
• Reggae
• Rhythm & Blues
• Rock
• Hip-hop
• Techno
• K-Pop
• Lo-fi
• Chill-hop
• Soul
• Latin
• World Music
• Gospel
• Contemporary Christian Music
• Electronic
• Ambient
