AMBASSADOR
OSIRIS-REx, stands for Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, Security, Regolith Explorer. Ambassador volunteers come from all walks of life and have several things in common: they love space science, are excited about the OSIRIS-REx mission, and are thrilled to work with the team.
Ambassadors convey information about NASA, The University of Arizona’s Lunar and Planetary Laboratory (which leads the mission), Goddard Space Flight Center, Lockheed Martin, and instrument partners. The program helps the
OSIRIS-REx mission engage students and the public.

NASA JET PROPULSION LABORATORY'S SOLAR SYSTEM AMBASSADORS PROGRAM
Volunteer ambassadors are selected by JPL based on a rigorous set of criteria, backgrounds and their plans for public outreach activities. JPL provides ambassadors with educational materials and extensive training. The Solar System Ambassadors provide an important interface between the space exploration
community and the general public.
NASA’s Solar System Ambassadors comprise 1,129 experts from all 50 states and US territories, reaching urban, suburban, and rural communities. Solar System Ambassadors have hosted more than 52,356 events and have reached 16,783,295 people directly. NASA’s mission scientists, astronauts and JPL staff conduct webinars and scientific briefings to share relevant updates to assist ambassadors with their events. Opportunities abound for networking, professional development and collaborating with other ambassadors who share best practices, resources
and creative ways to engage the public.

Marcia became an important interface and key resource between
NASA’s space exploration community and the general public.
She is passionate about advancing STEM and STEAM literacy, especially
among our next-generation leaders. Marcia is also an Artist and
Graphic Designer whose artwork is flying onboard the OSIRIS-REx spacecraft.
She is a former OSIRIS-REx Ambassador, a Citizen Scientist
and has been an Infographics Designer for JPL.
